Flipster - 68 titles available at your fingertips!

 ACC students (currently registered), faculty, and staff can now access select titles in digital format using Flipster from EBSCO Information Services. Flipster is a next-generation magazine service that allows users to instantly browse and access digital versions of magazines on their computers or devices. 

Austin Community College Library Services just added titles so all ACC users now have access to 68 titles in Flipster! These titles support ACC curriculum and assignments across the spectrum and include:

  • Home Improvement

  • GQ
  • Health
  • Metalsmith
  • MIT Technology Review
  • Bloomberg Businessweek
  • Consumer Reports
  • Discover

  • Using the app, full magazines can be downloaded to Android phones and tablets, Apple phones, iPads, and Kindle Fire tablets for offline reading anytime, anywhere. Flipster offers an easy, browsable reading experience - users can browse magazine titles, flip through the pages, and even search within the magazine. The online newsstand provides a carousel of the most recent issues, and back issues of titles are also available.

     Wall Street Journal - Unlimited Access for ACC!



    ACC Library Services is pleased to announce that we are one of the first community colleges in the country to offer unlimited access to The Wall Street Journal online at WSJ.com.


    Beginning July 1, ACC students, faculty, and staff can enjoy free access to The Wall Street Journal by registering at WSJ.com/AustinCC. Once you’ve activated your membership, you’ll be able to access WSJ anywhere, on or off-campus from your own device, using WSJ’s mobile apps. Enjoy WSJ podcasts, newsletters, online events, and more. 


    ACC faculty can also take advantage of WSJ’s Professor Hub, a suite of interactive tools and resources designed to help you integrate WSJ news and content into your classroom activities.

    Zoom a Librarian: ASL Drop-Ins Now Available!

     Zoom a Librarian: American Sign Language (ASL) Drop-Ins Now Available!

    Beginning Monday, April 26, our Zoom a Librarian service will include ASL Drop-In hours as part of a pilot program to make this popular service more accessible to the ACC community. If you’d like expert help with your research and need an interpreter, you can drop in for a live, one on one research consultation with an ACC Librarian fluent in ASL -- no appointment necessary!

    During the pilot , Drop-In ASL Sessions are available:

    • Mondays                 12:00pm - 1:00pm 

    • Thursdays                                     7:00pm - 8:00pm  

    • Fridays                                            11:00am - 12:00pm

    Access is easy. Just log in to ACC Blackboard, click the “Library Services” tab at the top of the page and locate the Zoom Drop-In link. This will open a Google Sheet where you can select the date, time, and session link to join an ASL Zoom room with an expert ACC Librarian.

    Zoom a Librarian: Drop-in Services and Expanded Hours!

     


    We’ve just expanded our popular Zoom a Librarian service to include Drop-In sessions on nights and weekends. Drop in for a live, one on one research consultation with a librarian, no appointment required. Get help with your research, learn how to find high-quality sources, find answers to your questions!

    Drop-In Zoom Help is available during these times:

    • Tuesdays and Wednesdays                 7:00pm - 9:00pm 

    • Saturdays                                           10:00am - 2:00pm  

    • Sundays                                                    2:00 - 4:00pm

    Access is easy. Just log in to ACC Blackboard, click the “Library Services” tab at the top of the page and locate the Zoom Drop-In link. This will open a Google Sheet where you can select the date, time, and session link to join a Zoom room with an expert ACC Librarian.

    If you’d prefer to make an appointment, you can still request Zoom sessions Monday through Friday, from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Just locate the Zoom by Appointment link on the Library Services Blackboard page. Please make your request at least one hour in advance.
