NEW: Digital Magazines at your Fingertips

ACC students (currently registered), faculty, and staff can now access select titles in digital format using Flipster from EBSCO Information Services. Flipster is a next-generation magazine service that allows users to instantly browse and access digital versions of magazines on their computers or devices. 

Austin Community College Library Services now has Flipster versions of the following titles:

Consumer Reports

Discover

Essence

Forbes

National Geographic

People

Rolling Stone

Sports Illustrated

Time

Vogue

Using the app, full magazines can be downloaded to Android phones and tablets, Apple phones, iPads, and Kindle Fire tablets for offline reading anytime, anywhere. Flipster offers an easy, browsable reading experience - users can browse magazine titles, flip through the pages, and even search within the magazine. The online newsstand provides a carousel of the most recent issues, and back issues of titles are also available.

LS Website Finding a New Home

The Library Website will soon be moving to the AWS cloud.

Epidemics -- Historical Exhibitions

The National Library of Medicine Exhibition Program has produced three exhibitions about the history of epidemics:

• the yellow fever epidemic of 1793, 
• the 1964 rubella epidemic, and 
• the AIDS epidemic during the 1980s.

Where is the card catalog?

Where is the card catalog?

Librarians are getting this question less and less as time goes by.  But, there was a time when the card catalog was the gateway to finding material in libraries.  

Where did the card catalog go?  It didn't really disappear, it just morphed into a different tool. (See more about this in a 2.6.20 article Card Tricks...)

Many libraries, like the ACC Libraries, have chosen a more powerful and easier-to-use gateway to materials in the library and beyond.

Time-honored books as the one listed on the catalog card above are still found in libraries and can be found through the Search Gateway on the Library Home Page.
