ACCMAIL FOR STUDENTS - GOOGLE APPS AT AUSTIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE - COMING SEPTEMBER 15TH
Austin Community College now has student email. ACC is teaming with Google Apps for Education to provide personalized email accounts to all ACC students. It’s called ACCmail and will allow the college community to share information and ideas more easily, but that’s not all.
What will students get?
- ACCmail – personalized email accounts
- Calendar - a shareable calendar service
- Talk - instant messaging
- Documents - web-based word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
- Startpage - access to all Google Apps at one easy place on ACC's website
What will students need to do?
- Login to Online Services and get initial login information. (You can find it under Student Menu > ACCmail.)
- Go to the Google Apps at ACC Login Page and login using this information.
What will a student’s username look like?
- A student's username will look like this: john.doe@g.austincc.edu
- In the case of two identical names, one might look like this: john.doe2@g.austincc.edu
Other information
- On the evening of September 11, all ACC website pages will be updated to reflect the new links and services. The homepage message will link students directly to the Google landing page. Flyers have been created and are up. The webpage is up. Postcards have been sent to all registered students and should arrive by the end of the week – Saturday, September 6.
- Information technology will begin creating accounts for all actively enrolled Fall 2008 academic students and some CE students, on the morning of September 12 to assure that they are all created and all potential issues are resolved by Monday, September 15.
- If students have a working personal email already on file with ACC when their ACCmail username is created, they will receive an email notifying them of the new email address. Students should be able to activate their ACCmail account within 12 hours of receiving this email notice.
- *Students can only access their ACCmail from the acc domain http://partnerpage.google.com/g.austincc.edu
- (This link will be in Online Services on the Student Menu. Menu Item will be ACCmail located under the "Communications" heading.)
- Students will be able to reset passwords. Instructions are in the FAQ.
