Libraries Transform!

ACC Library Services is excited to be participating in the American Library Association’s latest campaign, Libraries Transform. Transformation is essential to the communities we serve!

 The goal of Libraries Transform is to increase public awareness of the value, impact, and services provided by libraries and library professionals of all types. Libraries transform both communities and the lives of individuals
Libraries continue to transform to meet rapidly changing 21st century needs and Library professionals continue to transform to meet the evolving needs of the communities in which they serve.

 Libraries Transform wants you to understand that “libraries are NOT obsolete or nice to have” rather “libraries are essential” to your work and what you do ...not just at school but at home!

In a story in the NY Times, Sari Feldman, president of the American Library Association, disscusses how story time transforms lives. "... such early-literacy efforts are part of a larger transformation libraries are undergoing to become active learning centers for their communities by offering services like classes in English as a second language, computer skills and career counseling."
   We want you to notice we ARE NOT "just quiet places to do research, find a book and read” but instead come in and try out our unique pathways into the Internet AND our hundred + expert websites and databases of information we have subscribed to just to help you do write that paper, answer those chemistry questions or find that haunted house tour your history teacher wants you to take!!

National Lifelong Learning Day

Lifelong Learning Day is an official national day of recognition with a congressional proclamation. Senator Edward Markey (D-MA) and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker have both signed proclamations that recognize the importance of this special day.
